Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actress best recognized for her role as detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she won the Emmy Award. Also, she has appeared in series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole daughter of a United Auto Workers executive and his wife who was a household worker. She grew up within a household which included four brothers. While she was a small girl, she wanted to be a court-reporter. However, in high school her modeling career began when she was able to model commercials, she moved to New York. The role she was given was that of a child's innocence in the soap-opera All My Children. Delaney, a young actress in the 80s, has been featured in numerous TV shows as well as dramas. In contrast to her successful professional life, Delaney's private life isn't as content and successful. She has also experienced two divorces that failed and fought with alcohol addiction. In 2005, the actress lost custody over her only son.
